Sant Sadurní was chosen as one of the three subsites (along with Vic and Reus) where the roller hockey matches for the Olympic Games were held.

The Ateneu de Sant Sadurní Pavilion was used for these competitions, since at that time was recently built, they hardly had to do renovations in it. The Pavilion has a capacity for 1,500 spectators.

Sant Sadurní d’Anoia is 46 km west of Barcelona, in a major wine area. Since the nineteenth century the population has specialized in the production of cava (sparkling white wine) and is the main producer center worldwide, so this product is the major player in the local economy.

Sports Tradition

The roller hockey is the epitome of sports in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, already started practicing in the early thirties by the Centre National and the Ateneu Agrícola. The latter has won several major titles at national and European level and has its own campus, the Sant Josep School for children who want to start practicing this sport.
