Sabadell Nova Creu Alta Stadium
Sabadell was chosen as one of three subsites (along with Valencia and Zaragoza) where football competitions for the Olympic Games were held. Therefore, the Nova Creu Alta Stadium was remodeled, providing 16,000 seats.
Along with this, it was also adapted an additional sports area composed of a football field, two multisport courts, a swimming pool and a handball court.
Sabadell is located north of Barcelona, is one of the largest cities in Catalonia and has a very rich cultural and sporting life. The town center was established in the eleventh century around the chapel of San Salvador de Arraona and expanded across the River Ripoll in the twelfth century by the market that was being held there. Sabadell has had a rich traditional textile industry since the eighteenth century and up until today.
Sports Tradition
Sport is a deeply rooted activity in the city, with over 80 sports clubs. The most popular sport in Sabadell is football, which has 19 fields and 38 clubs, followed by swimming and athletics.
