The Olympic Shooting Field was built in the grounds of the Police Academy in the Mollet del Vallès subsite. On the occasion of the Olympic Games, in 1990 the refurbishment and improvement of this school were initiated.

An area of 130,000 m² for the expansion of the Police Academy where the field and shooting facilities stood next to a space that could accommodate 5,000 spectators and an area with trees strategically placed to make noise barrier was provided.

Next to this area, and through an underpass, 210,769 m² were used to build facilities, warehouses, rest areas, rooms for judges and services facilities.

Mollet del Vallès is situated 33 km north-east of Barcelona, above the Besòs river. It is a medieval village that suffered a major population growth during the twentieth century. There it dominates metallurgy, construction, chemical and wood industry.
